I find myself feeling emotional about the pandemic, all over again.

I just spent a couple hours going through the 500 page document. It’s actually more readable than you would think. Anyway, the gist of it is (as you know) there are a number of things various parties lied about:

1. Origins of covid (lab leak) - Fauci and others

2. 6 foot rule, which was not founded in any science - Fauci, public health

3. Mask mandates - based on flawed studies by the CDC

4. Vaccine effectiveness (against transmission)- Biden, public health

5. Ivermectin (only for animals) - FDA

6. Natural immunity - public health

and a long list of policy failures:

• PPP and unemployment insurance lost over $250 billion to fraud

• Lockdowns harmed economy, mental health, child development, and physical health

• Vaccine mandates and passports were not supported by science

• Demonization of off-label prescriptions (hampered early treatment)

• VAERs and vaccine injury payouts not working

plus the government overstepping its bounds on censorship (with Meta / Facebook) and mask mandates, along with specific public health figures providing false statements, doctoring documents and obstructing justice.

It’s a pretty tough review. Not (yet) acknowledged is the increasing evidence that the vaccines are not at all safe, and have very likely lost more lives than they “saved”.

The introduction to the report talks about trust in public health and how it must be earned and regained. In other sections, the risk of increasing vaccine hesitancy is mentioned.

This is where we lose the plot. So.. our government lied and mismanaged things in ways that led to people losing their small businesses, corporate jobs, and incomes, harmed the long-term development of their children, increased suicides, led to people dying in isolation, missing Holidays, birthdays, special occasions, suffering adverse impacts from an experimental vaccine - without compensation, and unvaccinated being locked out of society for no scientific reason at all… and the concern is that faith in public health and vaccines has fallen??!!!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news (to the government folks), but the long-term impacts are far more profound and far more detrimental to our government at large, which derives its power from the consent of the governed. The economic hardship and indelible personal traumas arising from pandemic failures do not solely reflect on public health. They answer, in the negative, whether the government is capable of handling anything of import. Between outright lies and ineffective policies, one can argue that we would have been better off if the government had done nothing - or perhaps did not exist at all. Hard to imagine for those who went along with mandates, didn’t suffer financially or healthwise, and believe that the risks of covid were skillfully mitigated by public policy. But if you lost a business, a job, a home, a loved one, or watched your loved ones suffer, you would gladly trade a few days home with the flu and even a possible trip to the ER - if it came to that.

For many of us, the government has become “the bad guy”, the oppressor, the direct source of harm. An entity we have no better option than to coexist with, like the mafia of movie lore. We know standing against it is dangerous, best to do what we can to stay out of its way. Is it our friend? Absolutely not. Worse - it did this using our own money. To give of our earnings to fund these harms is indescribably repugnant. This is the reason the election went the way it did, and why there is such enthusiasm for DOGE and other efforts to clean up and throttle back the federal government. To put it bluntly, I do not want to fund a government that harms me, whether it is through malice, corruption or sheer incompetence. Just no, thank you.
